Project Violet Exploration - Classroom Resources: Protein Bracelets

Ideas and resources to bring Project Violet to the classroom through science and exploration.

Basic Overview

The scientists at Project Violet base their research on proteins found in nature. For this project, we are working with the small protein, Hefutoxin, which has 22 amino acids. Hefutoxin is a toxin from the venom of the Asian forest black scorpion. These bracelets represent this protein in its linear sequence pattern (primary structure). The different color beads denote the different properties of the amino acids (further explained in the instructions).
