Altmetric is a system that tracks the attention that research outputs such as scholarly articles and data sets receive online. It pulls data from:
Altmetric cleans up and normalizes the data from these sources then makes it available for analysis. A key difference between Altmetric and other social media monitoring services is that Altmetric will disambiguate links to outputs: it knows that even though some X posts might link to a PubMed abstract, newspapers to the publisher's site and blog posts to a dx.doi.org link they're all talking about the same paper.
After Altmetric aggregates all of the information (we call each piece of information a post) it can find about a research output it looks at both the quantity and the quality of attention being paid to an output and visualises it.

LibKey Discovery allows you to search for articles in the Arnold Library catalog and be directed straight to the PDF instead of navigating through layers of publisher pages and journal navigation. Library staff have embedded this tool in the catalog and there is no need for you to install anything or use a special link to access it. All you need is article titles to search in the catalog and you're all set.
LibKey Link enhances linking options already in place with databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar, among others. Arnold Library librarians are implementing this feature on the backend of our databases, so you don't need to install anything to take advantage of this component. As long as you are on the Fred Hutch network or signed in to our off-campus login, you will see these links while browsing many of your preferred databases. Please contact the Library If you are not seeing links as expected in one of our databases.
LibKey Nomad is an extension for your preferred browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge). Once installed, it will provide clear links to full text found in PubMed, Wikipedia, Google Scholar, and publisher pages, for articles and journals subscribed to by the Arnold Library.
LibKey.io allows you to search for articles based on DOI (Digital Object Identifier) and PMID (PubMed ID). If it's an article in a subscribed or open access journal, you'll be routed directly to the PDF. If we do not subscribe or the article is not freely available, you will be redirected to request the article through our Interlibrary Loan service.
