This simple activity looks at the nature-side of Project Violet. Students get a chance to learn fun facts about some of the species that Project Violet is researching, and they will also get a chance to learn the different protection mechanisms these species have that made their molecules good candidates for Project Violet.
For older students, this can also be a good time to introduce some basic bioinformatics by allowing them to search for the protein from each of these species in the Protein Data Bank.
The first file contains a short set of instructions; the second file contains slides of the species (or the species with their corresponding protein molecule); the third file contains the species facts and why each molecule was chosen to be researched by Project Violet scientists.
